To assist older people in the public realm, I follow the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) standards for good quality urban design from 2000. The standards are highly relevant for older people in order to enjoy the built environment. These can also be joined together and placed neatly around our model of transport needs. This shows the importance of getting the practical elements right, but legibility and aesthetics are also important to pull people to places.
